bruce and jessica need help

Bruce and Jessica thought the military was moving them completely. Something has changed and now they are responsible for packing. The military will only load the truck. If anybody has some time Wednesday or Thursday Bruce and Jessica could use some help packing. They may need boxes too. I don't know. It sounds like this was sort of sprung on them. They leave Friday.

Hi guys,

We would appreciate prayer for Matt's dad. He is going to have triple bypass surgery on Wednesday. He is in bad shape, but they caught the problem before he had a heart attack.

Christmas Tree Farm and Potluck

My favorite day of the year was made so much better by having so many friends to spend it with. The potluck was really yummy and it was fun getting to see so many friends. The Christmas tree farm was so fun. The day was perfect with blue skies and sunshine. Can't wait for next year.

The costume party is this Saturday the 27th, at the Kuhner's at 6:30 pm. Leave a comment of what snack you'd like to bring. If you'd rather bring 3 simple prizes instead of food just put that down. Sarah will have hot cider, tea and water, but we can use someone to bring a few more drinks. Also someone to bring the plates, napkins and cups. Thanks!

The Big News from the Boyds

My purse has been found! ok so its not big news like Allison or anything, but my purse has been missing for two+ weeks AND it was lost the week before that for a week. Confusing? I know. I've actually been losing my purse weekly for the last month. This last time I thought it was a goner and I dreaded seeing my last three dollars in my bank account being wiped out by some petty thief. I also dreaded my Kaiser appointments (luke's and mine) where I had to see the same receptionists and repeat the line, "my purse is lost again and I still don't have an ID or my kaiser card." After 3 appointments a week for a month it gets really embarrassing.

So more seriously, I've been praying, "Lord you know where my purse is and when I really need it you can send it back." So thank you Lord for my purse.

No baby yet but they did a stress test and I have loads of fluid and the baby is doing great. She/He waved a little hand at us on the ultrasound - sooo adorable. They will induce on the 18th if I haven't gone into labor.

So where was the purse? Kaiser.

Sunday Lunch

Robin wanted me to post about inviting everyone to get together for lunch after church on Sunday to say a farewell to the Writebols (Brian and Ester version) and the Blakes. Bring your lunch and we'll all meet at the picnic tables at the church or somewhere else. I don't know where the somewhere else would be. We can all figure it out during Sunday School. See you all then.

Betty Crocker Cook-Off

Our Betty Crocker Cook-off was so much fun. Emberli brought twice baked potatoes with lots of yummy toppings and Michelle brought awesome garlic bread for the appetizers. Sarah grilled steaks and Kim made rice and a great chicken dish with pineapples for the main course. Even though Christine couldn't come she sent carmalitas for dessert. We had a relaxing time and enjoyed all the great food. The prizes were really cute gloves for the kitchen. Of course we had to model them. Even Lena got in on the action.

Dig-Dug

Alright fellas, I've got the perfect idea for a Mens' Activity. It involves all things us real men enjoy: comraderie, sweat, dirt, backbreaking labor. All that which makes us better than girls. If this sounds like your idea of a good time, well, you're a very sick individual. But if you want to help a brother out and don't mind a little of that which makes us better than girls, give me a call for some dirt-digging good times this Saturday morning. Lunch and plenty of water will be provided, of course. Also, I promise not to bug anybody for help for the two Saturday's after this one. Mostly because I'll be out of town.

When: Saturday, July 7, starting sometime between 9 AM and 10 AM
What: Earth moving
Where: Andy's house
Bring: Gloves, shovel, maybe a wheelbarrow, love of the out of doors

If you think you may show up call or email and let me know. Thanks!

BBQ at the Oggs

The Oggs have invited our class to a BBQ at their house on June 29th at 6:00pm as a fun way to end our study in Romans. They will provide the BBQ and drinks, and we're going to bring sides and desserts. Below I will list some suggestions and you can just leave a comment for what your family would like to bring. Of course you can bring something else that's not listed, but just say what it is so we don't all bring the same thing.

-pasta salad, fruit salad, macaroni salad, potato salad, green salad
-a few bags of chips
-baked beans
-1 dessert, 2 dessert, 3 dessert

I hope we have a good turnout so that we can say thank you and show him that we appreciated his teaching. Thanks Everyone, Emberli

Adventures of the Boyds-Chapter 22

I'm sure none of you have cars that break down on the side of the road. Mine however does with some frequency. Normally this happens in the heat of the day -- never below 100 degrees. What complicates things is there are usually half a dozen "hungry, tired, hot, thirsty, bored" kids in the car with me. Yesterday this happened at the intersection of Farmers Lane and Highway 12.

i did see quite a few of my friends driving by, waving cheerfully, not realizing the car wasn't just waiting to turn, it was parked :) in the middle of the road :)

So it worked out, turns out our gas gauge was off or out or stuck or whatever the technical way to say it is. We were out of gas, so it was an easy fix.

Game Night Pictures

Thank you to Jeff and Rachel for opening up their club house for us for the evening. We had a great BBQ and lots of good food. It was a great chance to catch up on how everyone's lives have been going. We will definitely have to do this again!!

The Boyd boys had a blast with the pool table.

Some of the guys had a chance to fellowship and talk with each other.

All the girls gathered for a fun time of apples to apples. I have no idea who actually won.

Here are all the glowing pregnant ladies. We will have lots of wee ones this year.

Come on Jen, buck up, everyone has to get their picture taken.

Game is on for a couple of the guys.

The rest of them hung out and watched a game on TV.

I think it's fair to say we all had a really nice time of fellowship and good food. Any more Strawberry soda Jen?

Coming Events

Well girls, we have lots of fun activities lined up for you to participate in and enjoy some good fellowship.

A girl's accountability group is starting up this coming week. We will meet on Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:00. For the first month everyone is invited to come to Sarah K's house, but we are looking for someone who would like to host this each week. It will be a great time of prayer, sharing, encouraging and fun. We will also be choosing a book that will challenge us spiritually. Don't worry, it won't take too much time. Maybe just a chapter to read and think about so we can talk about it together. Our first meeting will be Thursday, May 31st at 7:30. Please call Sarah for directions or questions.
On the second Thursday of each month we will not meet due to another event planned for that day.

Each Friday all those interested in getting into shape and spending time with friends are welcome to come walking.
We are planning to walk at 8:30 am in Christine C.'s neighborhood. After our walk is finished we will go to the park or out for coffee at Starbucks. This event will be every Friday morning.

We are planning Family Icecream/Frozen Yogurt Nights to have a low key fun activity for the whole family. Let's try going to the Golden Spoon on Stoney Point and Guernville Road. If this isn't a good spot we can try others. Anyone who wants to enjoy a yummy treat and great fellowship come every other Tueday night at 6:30 pm to the icecream shop. The first two icecream nights are scheduled for June 5th and June 19th. Hopefully this is after your dinner time but before all the little ones need to be in bed.

Our next Betty Crocker Cook-Off is coming up on July 14th at 5:00pm at Kim and Leo G.'s house. It is the girls turn to cook a great meal and see who is the best cook this time. It should be lots of fun.

Check out the last post for info on the girl's Chat N' Craft coming up on June 14th from 9-1 pm.

exercise your right to an opinion

So a bill is going through our legislature right now called AB 755. It makes spanking your under 3 year old with "an implement" a criminal offense. This is a good time to express your opinion to your assembly woman. Yours is Noreen Evans. Hint hint

http://democrats.assembly.ca.gov/members/a07/
(707) 546-4500
If you want more information or a prewritten paragraph to email her (albeit biased) I can give it to ya). Also, I've been told they listen more to phone calls that emails.

Ironically, the woman who introduced this bill doesn't have children. Maybe she should spend some time with some.

Thanks Robin

How many Fundamentalists

For reasons I cannot begin to fathom, I've begun posting answers to the oldest question in our collective blog circle.

How many Fundamentalists does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

I was actually having fun and thought I'd share my answers with everyone. In addition I think we should continue the game that Heavy abandoned. At the best it might inspire him to post, and at the worst it's downright fun having a poke at our own shortcomings.

So come on and give it a try, you might just enjoy it!

I wanted to let everyone know that Diana Blake is going to be induced to have her baby on Tuesday. She had her appointment with her doctor and found out that the baby is getting too big. So the baby will be her by Tuesday at the latest. Her family is coming in on Saturday to be here for Easter as well. Visitors are welcome after the baby is here. Diana is planning on having the baby at Petaluma Valley Hospital. More updates to follow.

Free Furniture!

Hey all,

Shirley Drake, an SRBC member and lady whose dogs I watch, called me yesterday and told me that she is giving away a lot of furniture. She's moving into a smaller house and needs to get rid of some stuff. She wanted me to let those in our group know. She has some pretty nice stuff, including a couple of glass top coffee tables, desks, a credenza, an antique piano, a couple of rocking chairs, and other various items. If anyone is interested you can either call her (her number is in the chruch directory) or us. Whatever she hasn't given away by the end of the weekend she'll have the Salvation Army come get, so call soon. Jen and I are probably going over to her house to check it out Sunday afternoon.

Prayer Request

Jessica called me yesterday to let me know Bruce's grandfather had just passed away on Sunday. They are both traveling down to LA to spend time with the family for the next week. Pray for safety and comfort for them and the family.

HELP!

Hey gang,

If any of you should find yourselves without something better and more fun to do on Saturday, I could use a hand, or a few, in my yard. Tasks may include, but not limited to, digging through dirt, hauling dirt, moving dirt, pushing dirt, shoveling dirt, and other dirt related activities. We've been cutting back a hill in our backyard since about October and one or two more weekends should end that part of the project. We can feed you breakfast and lunch and provide all the bottled water you can drink.

So, if you want to build some major muscles the all natural way and find yourself aimlessly flipping through Saturday morning cartoons with nothing else to do, feel free to come by. I'll be out there at 9 AM, but I'll take the help whenever I can get it. Let me know so we can make food plans.

Patricia and Christine's Grandfather

I just got a call from Patricia and she told me that her grandfather passed away this morning. This is Robin Riley's father. It happened early this morning. He was in pretty bad shape after a serious heart attack, triple by-pass surgery and a number of subsequent heart attacks and resuscitations.

Please be in prayer for the comfort of his family. He leaves behind four children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. We thank you for your prayers.

Guys NIght

All the fellas are welcomed at my (Andy) house tonight, unless there is another plan I'm unaware of. You can bring your own food or we can chip in for pizza or something. We can play games, video or board, or watch movies, or drop things off the balcony, whatever we want. If you have something fun to do or bring, by all means bring it. I'm trying to call and/or email anyone, but help spread the word. I don't want to forget anybody.

Prayer Request: Bob Brouse

Patricia and Christine's Grandfather just suffered a heart attack. We do not know the severity or circumstances of it yet. He is a widower of about nine years and lives alone in Connecticut. His oldest daughter lives nearby and is out there with him now. We hope to have more details soon.

Please be in prayer for Bob Brouse, Robin Riley and the rest of his family. He is mostly healthy but is getting older. Again we don't know yet how bad it was but we envy your prayers for his condition and the wisdom of the doctors that will be treating him.

-Peter
